Tutor. Unpaginated [5 ff]. Illustrated throughout with photomontages. Small 4to., 213 x 197 mm, bound in publisher’s illustrated wrappers. [Milan: Stampa Pizzi & Pizio, 1934].
A rare promotional brochure designed by the Swiss artist Xanti Schawinsky (1904-1979) for an Italian circuit breaker. This work was produced during Schawinsky’s brief time in Italy where he was hired by the advertising firm Boggeri who was responsible for this brochure. The inventive use of photomontage and graphic design evokes the later work of Herbert Bayer and makes this little brochure a remarkably forward looking piece of books design. A fine example of this rarity with no copies located by Worldcat.
