Two fine examples of photomontage by Polish avant-garde artist Kazimierez Podsadecki published in the weekly periodical Swiatowid. Podsadecki (1904-1970) spent the pre-war years steeped in the avant-garde, experimenting with photomontage, typography and film, all in the constructivist tradition. His genius is on particular display with the double page spread in which he seemingly fetishizes the hands of the subjects of the photographs. The hands are in the foreground and sharply focused versus the essentially blurred out faces.
Some edge wear to the cover and a few leaves, overall a fine example of an especially fragile publication. Examples of any issue of Swiatowid are appearing rare outside of Polish institutions.
