The Color Printer. 138 pp. Illustrated with photographic frontispiece portrait of the author and 90 full page chromolithographic plates. 4to., 270 x 200 mm, bound in publisher’s polychrome binding. Cincinnati: Earhart & Richardson, 1892.
First Edition. A tour-de-force of late nineteenth century American colour printing. ‘Justly famous for its beauty and utility… Marvelous plates often hinting of Art Nouveau, Earhart offered demonstrations of color mixing, color harmonies, and color printing in its various phases and recorded the actual proportions of inks used. Vignettes, letters, designs, and whole variety of plates are rendered in most of the common color processes, and some of them are embossed.’ (Yale Library Gazette, July 1974, p. 16)
Dedication page is signed by Earhart. Rear hinge repaired, corners lightly bumped, else a fine copy, rarely found thus.
