1933 Savona; Lettere, Arti, Teatro, Sports, Industrie, Commercio, Invicazione, Articianati. [56] pp on coated paper, [4] pp on thick coloured paper with tipped in colour illustrations, followed by [12] pp ads on regular paper. Illustrated throughout with photographs and typographical flourishes. Large 4to., 327 x 252 mm, bound in publisher’s wrappers with a dynamic photomontage with text printed in silver and gold. [Savona: Fratelli Spirito, 1932].
A very rare publication celebrating artistic and cultural achievements of Savona, Italy. This deluxe printing by Fratelli Spirito meshes Futurist design and typography with more traditional elements resulting in a publication very much of its time. The cover is far and away the star of the show with an image of a complex modern steel structure superimposed over a photograph of the14th Century Torre Leon Pancaldo, all surrounded by a Futurist font printed in gold and silver. The other highlight is the double-spread featuring two ‘free word’ poems by Farfa (Vittorio Osvaldo Tommasini) and Alidada (Tito da Ottone).
No copies located on OCLC. A very good copy with some edge-wear, light foxing to the top of the front cover, the rear little grubby with some foxing, internally fine.
Salaris, Riviste futuriste, pp 870-871.
