Electronics – A New Science For a New World. 32 pp including front and back cover. Illustrated throughout with photomontage. Oblong folio, 210 x 280 mm, bound in publisher’s illustrated wrappers. [Schenectady: General Electric Company, 1942].
A fine example of Herbert Bayer’s genius as a graphic designer, here in the form of a promotional pamphlet for General Electric published four years after he moved to the United States. A profusion of photomontage illustrates the history, uses and possibilities of electricity. This copy includes a typed letter on GE stationary fulfilling a request for said pamphlet, signed by W.R.G Baker, Vice-President. Cover with some very light sun-toning and an almost imperceptible crease, all together fine.
