112 pp.  Illustrated throughout with photographic reproductions with numerous photomontages and designs ‘illuminated’ with orange highlights.  Small folio, 262 x 210 mm, bound in publisher’s black cloth over clear plastic cover.  Stuttgart: Wissenschaftlicher Verlag, 1930.

First Edition.  A compendium of the best of European modernist design featuring a who’s who among the genre.  The artist’s represented were members of  Ring Neue Werbegestalter [Circle of New Advertising Creators], an exhibiting society founded by Kurt Schwitters which included such notables as Jan Tschichold,  El Lissitsky, Moholy-Nagy, Max Bill, Max Burcharz, as well as John Heartfield.  Gefesselter Blick presents examples from each contributor and itself is a fine example of hi-design.

Uncommon, OCLC finds just 6 copies in the US at the Getty, Yale, Princeton, the Wolfsonian, Northwestern and Illinois Institute of Technology.  Aside from some minor creasing and slight wear to the spine, the present copy is a near fine copy.
