Raisonnement sur la Perspective: pour en faciliter l'Usage aux Artistes: dédié aux Mêmes. [10], 20 pp. Illustrated two engraved title-pages, engraved ‘notice’ and 9 full-page engraved plates. Folio, 360 x 250 mm, bound in contemporary paste-paper boards. A Parme: Chez les Freres Faure Libraires, 1758.
A rare work on perspective by Petitot, who was the court architect at Parma, but who is perhaps best known for his series of engravings Mascarade a la Grecqe, first published in 1771. This is an important work because of its tendency towards neoclassical simplicity and the influence it was to have on the pupils he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Parma. Text in both French and Italian. Spine with wear and some loss, overall a very good unsophisticated copy preserved in its first binding.
