BAUHAUS ERA COLOUR THEORY

BAUHAUS ERA COLOUR THEORY

Druckfarben, Bindemittel, Trockenstoffe.  Kurzgefasste graphische Farbenkunde fuer den praktischen Gebrauch.  By Wilhelm Biering.  viii, [2], 34, [4] pp.  Illustrated with 43 mounted colour specimens and one full-page colour plate.  Small folio., 245x180 mm bound in publisher’s printed boards.  Frankfurt: Wilhem Biering, 1926.

First Edition, privately printed.   A rare and beautiful Bauhaus era book on colour theory. The juxtaposition of the gothic font, evenly toned paper and bright geometric colour samples creates a uniquely elegant work.  Worldcat locates just one copy of this first edition at the MOMA, a second edition was printed two years later not privately printed like the first.  The cover with some sun toning, else a fine copy.
