La Décoration en Bois Découpé. Hand cololoured lithographic title-page followed by 32 hand-coloured lithographic plates. Oblong Folio, 240 x 315 mm, bound in contemporary dark brown pebbled cloth. Paris: chez Sanguineti, [ca. 1865].
First Edition. An attractive High Victorian pattern book of architectural elements cut from wood designed by Waaser & Madin. It features; roofs, balcony balustrades, gable decorations, dormers, partitions for cafes, door panels, stair railings, verandas, kiosks, wood and brick construction among much more. The illustrations were drawn on the stone by Antoni Sanguineti, a furniture designer and editor of the monthly Parisian journal Le Moniteur de l'Ameublement (1863-1868). The lithographs were printed by Becquet of Paris.
The title page suggests this is a first part, however, there are no indications of any further publications. Rare, with OCLC locating just three copies in the U.S. at the Met, Columbia and Getty. A very good copy with some pail scattered foxing and light wear to the spine.
